RI Adventure

Hello Friends!

Here is a snippet of what I did today (more later)! I joined Mum and friends on a Rhode Island adventure, which resulted in some pretty fantastic photos and memories. We took a little detour on the way home to visit Fort Wetherill (again), which was, as always, beautiful. And smelly (dead jellyfish = gross). But beautiful.

Today's TTV

Hey Guys!

Since I didn't paint today, I thought I'd shoot a few TTV shots around the house. Here are some of the results! I really like how they came out. I had to edit this post quite a bit though, there were a few too many shots of cats.....
Enjoy and Happy Weekend!

Moonrise Kingdom Cove Adventure

It's no secret, I am pretty obsessed with the film Moonrise Kingdom. And on Sunday after getting SUPER lost and finding myself somewhere in Rhode Island, a lightbulb went off in my head. I knew the film was filmed in RI and as RI is the size of my backyard, I looked up WHERE exactly, and found I was only 10 minutes from the cove!!!! So, of course, I went and did a little exploring!
Pretty sure it is some sort of magical too. While I was standing there looking over the water a hawk swooped down in front of me and just sat there. WITH me. And while I was exploring the rest of the park a deer walked up a few feet from me and also just stood there (Magic=Rabies?)!! ALSO found the biggest, most beautiful chunk of sea glass I've ever found. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!

A Fall Hike

Today was so incredibly crazy beautiful! After I dropped the bug off at school I decided to go for a little hike. Crowley Woodlands was perfect! I hiked, collected some leaves and took a million pictures and then decided it was too nice to just go home, so I took the pup for an hour walk around the neighborhood and found even more leaves and inspiration!
I've got some fall projects I'm really excited to share tomorrow. I've just started them, and I'll probably be up all night working them!

Burial Hill

Yesterday the bug and I went to Burial Hill in Plymouth, MA. I'd actually never been here even though I work 2 seconds down the street. Yay for hometown adventures! It was really pretty cool. Lots of signage to let you know where all the historically cool stuff was. And an aaaaamazing view of the waterfront, with benches for hanging out and watching the sunset!
We went to the Courthouse museum after that (which has free admission all of the time!), and learned a bit more about the fantastic history of our town! One teensy bit of interesting history- Mick Jagger visited the Courthouse Museum in 1985! They, of course, framed the page of the guest book he signed and display it proudly along side the firetruck from the 1700s and the hearse from the early 1800s.
Bugs started getting weird after our tour of the graveyard (as seen in pic no.4).... so, I think our next trip will be to the zoo or something..... :)

Saturday Adventure

Yesterday, my good friends, Candace and Aly and I piled into my car and set out for Connecticut, and more specifically, "Holy Land USA". Holy Land is supposedly this kitschy mini rendering of Jerusalem that an artist built in the 70s, now abandoned.
We ended up stopping a few times ( When the car was about to fall apart, when we needed salads. Etc.), and then following signs for "Gillette Castle". Turns out Gillette Castle is a fantastic state park, and was home to William Gillette, an actor in the early 19th century, who built a castle in an absolutely magical spot, overlooking the Connecticut River. Mr. Gillette was also the first ever Sherlock Holmes, and helped develop the character of Holmes for the stage and screen. I geeked when I found out. I'm a HUGE Sherlock fan, so, just stumbling upon this gem was an enormous thrill.
We weren't able to visit Holy Land USA, but I think this became an even better adventure than we expected!
I brought my baby TLR camera from the 50s and my newer TLR and took about a million pictures with a lens I built on Friday. I think this week I'll do a tutorial on TtV and building a setup for a DSLR camera. TtV (Through the viewfinder) is such a fun way to take pictures!
